New Career Story: How Socks Set Me Apart
I never thought my socks would become a key talking point in my career journey, but life has a way of surprising us. During the interview process for my role at JPMorgan Chase, my sock website and entrepreneurial journey turned into a standout highlight.
I’ve never been one to fit into the traditional mold, and I don’t usually gravitate toward financial companies. But something resonated with me when I realized this race wasn’t about where you start—it’s about how far you’ve come. While others brought well-formed educational backgrounds and degrees to the table, I brought an online automated sock store born from artistic passion and the emotional turmoil of being laid off—twice—shortly after becoming a first-time homeowner.
Plano, Texas: A New Beginning
As part of the program, I was flown to Plano, Texas, for training. It was a whirlwind of new experiences: being in a new city, surrounded by corporate energy, and meeting so much emerging talent. Plano felt special, like the start of something new—a pivotal moment in my journey.
In honor of this chapter, I’ll be releasing my final socks for sale until February 11, using the insights gathered from my website analytics. This marks the close of this particular creative journey—for now.
Gratitude
To the incredible professionals I’ve met, to the family and friends who supported my vision, and to my audience—you. The data shows you liked what you saw, even if the price didn’t always align. I understand and appreciate every moment of your support.
As Frank Sinatra famously said, “I did it my way.” And I couldn’t be prouder of how this path unfolded.
